Rail Technology Conferences 2010
The interface of wheel and rail in railway operations is a dynamic and complex area. Scientific studies and technological developments are continuously trying to improve the performance of both systems and to reduce side effects such as noise and vibrations. A good insight in their interaction and a thorough analysis of the system are important fundamentals for improvements.
The two-day international Rail Technology Conferences 2010 have addressed both wheel/rail interface and noise & vibrations by offering a fundamental platform for rail experts in the area of wheel/rail to exchange knowledge and experiences while meeting industry experts.
Wheel/rail interface – 2 June 2010 - Design and actual use of track: maintenance optimisation - Wheel/rail contact: optimising opposite demands - Rail inspection systems & the need for standardisation - Rail & track maintenance: efficient solutions
Noise & vibrations – 3 June 2010 - Rail and its direct surroundings - regulations & design - Rail and its direct surroundings - experiences & best practices - Sound-management by material choice - Vibration reduction methods
Current research, new maintenance techniques, noise/vibration abatement measures and best practices and lessons learnt from various experiences were discussed during these two days. |
